Dusk's source is released under the MIT License, so you're free to read, modify, and redistribute it. Video playback is powered by VLCKit, which is licensed separately under the LGPL v2.1.
Yes. Start or join a FaceTime call, then tap SharePlay in the Dusk player on iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. Play, pause, and seeking apply to everyone, and moving on to the next episode brings the whole group along. Live TV is the one exception—every tuned channel has its own timeline, so it can't be kept in sync.
Everyone needs Dusk and their own access to the Plex server, since each device streams from Plex directly—so everyone gets their own quality, subtitles, and audio track. SharePlay never shares your Plex token—only which title the group is watching.
Yes, Jellyfin support is coming soon.
Yes. If your Plex account has Plex Home members, Dusk asks who's watching after sign-in, and you can switch profiles later without signing out. Protected profiles ask for their PIN, which Dusk never stores. Each profile keeps its own libraries, watch history, and downloads.
Yes, optionally. Add your Seerr address in Settings and sign in with your Plex account. Search then shows titles you don't have yet next to your library, and you can request movies, shows, or single seasons right from Dusk. Seerr only handles requests; everything you watch still streams from Plex.
Usually no. Dusk starts with direct play, so your server normally just serves the file as-is. Manual quality changes can use Plex transcoding, which requires a server capable of handling the selected quality.
No personal data. Dusk sends a few anonymous events and error reports to our own server so we can tell things are working—you can turn this off in Settings. See our Privacy Policy for details.
